About Us

J&R Herra Corporate Mission:
Our mission is to provide quality and quantifiable service, established on the  principles of equity and care.  From new construction to emergency repair, we strive to promote these efforts so they are both just and fair for all customers.

Company History:
Prior to 1974, Jack Herra had been working for a small plumbing shop called H&L Altepeter.  He greatly appreciated working for this locally-based business.  In addition to enjoying the trade, Jack was also fond of the opportunity to serve his local community.  So in 1974, when H&L Altepeter offered to sell Jack the company, he saw it as an offer he could not refuse.  Jack approached his brother, Richard Herra,  and asked if he would like to join him in this business venture.  Together, they established J&R Herra's shop in Elburn, Illinois.  From the very beginning, they sought to furnish J&R Herra with the mission of customer service.

Jack and Rich have been in business together for over 30 years.  In the beginning the company was small; only 3 employees sustained the business.  The company was incorporated in 1979, and began to grow.  They mostly did repair work on electric, heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and well pumps. Additionally, their shop welcomed more inventory, technicians, and fully-stocked service vehicles. 

Throughout the years, Jack's children (Steve, Patty, Alan, and Brian) have also worked earnestly for this company.  To date, Brian Herra is proud to serve and manage the day to day operations of the business. 

In the recent history of J&R Herra, Inc. new technologies have been added to the list of J&R Herra services.  Geothermal heating and cooling as well as radiant heating are two knowledge bases added to the repertoire of the company.  J&R Herra, Inc. has also expanded to 13 employees, all of which have a personal commitment to J&R Herra's company philosophy.
