GOOD TO KNOW
Spring in the Midwest brings such a fluctuation of weather. Warm sunshine one day followed by a surprise snow storm the next. This shift outside often brings the urge to shift the temperatures you can control inside. Do your family members war over the thermostat? Even our family is guilty of this sometimes. For example, do you like to adjust your temperature when you are not home or at night when you are sleeping? Where you might think you are conserving energy and saving money, you may be doing the opposite and causing your heating/cooling system to work extra hard bringing your household back to a comfortable temperature when you are home and awake. We recommend to only set back/adjusting your thermostat 3 to 4 degrees. Keeping your space at a relatively constant temperature is easier on your units and causes them less strain and wear.
STAFF SPOTLIGHT
(pic of John)
Meet John Morong: John has been part of the J&R Herra crew for over 30 years. From his early days as a J&R Herra apprentice to his current role as our shop’s plumbing manager, John’s experience and plumbing expertise is beyond valued. When he’s not plugging away at work, John spends quality time with his family. From side-by-side rides in the country to teaching his kids how to hunt and fish, John can’t get enough of the great outdoors. If you do catch him inside, he’s often in the kitchen. John is known for his breakfast skillets, homemade sausages, and fresh garden goodies. All in all, John is a hands-on guy. He likes to stay busy both at work and on the Morong homestead. We are beyond blessed to work alongside him every day. Thank you John, for your steadfast loyalty and interminable work ethic.
ERAS OF J&R HERRA
Did you know that April celebrates National Siblings Day? In honor of this fun holiday, we thought we would pay tribute to the Herra siblings that have worked for our company over the years making it what it is today. Steve (on the left) learned to plumb, as a teenager, alongside his dad, grandfather and uncles. He left high school early each day to support the family business. Pattie (far right) used her incredible organization and bookkeeping skills to manage our shop office for years. Alan (kiddo in the middle) grew up running calls and learning the trade with his big brother Steve and his dad. Lastly, Brian (baby in the front) currently owns and operates the family business with loads of love and pride for his family and crew.
A MOMENT WITH MOLLY
Whether it’s singing, dancing, playing an instrument, or giving a speech… Molly loves to be up on a stage and performing in front of others. This year, she has gotten the opportunity to be in the spring musical at Kaneland Harter Middle School. Molly loves all of her amazing friends and teachers that have worked tirelessly to put on the show. This year’s spring musical is… Anastasia! She has had a great time practicing and getting this show performance-ready! She can’t wait to put all of her practice to use during the shows: April 26th (7PM), 27th (7PM), and the 28th (2PM). J&R Herra has always been a passionate supporter of Kaneland’s Performing Arts programs, but now these performances have become just that much more fun to watch.
DIYlicious DESIGN
CUSTOMIZE. CREATE. INSPIRE.
As you gear up for this year’s Spring-Cleaning routine, have you considered the incredible benefits of making your own, DIY cleaning supplies? It’s not only extremely simple, but it also presents countless advantages over your traditional “store-bought” options. Here are several reasons why you should make your own cleaning supplies.
- Cost Savings– Basic, household ingredients can be purchased inexpensively if you don’t already have them in your cupboards at home.
- Healthier– Unlike commercial counterparts, these DIY options lack the harsh/toxic chemicals that are harmful to your health and the environment.
- Ecofriendly– Homemade cleaning supplies use fewer resources and create less waste. Especially if you reuse your spray bottles.
- Personalized Formula– When you make your own cleaning supplies you can customize them to suit your family’s needs. From scents to ingredients, you have complete control of their contents.
- Convenient– DIY cleaners are easy to assemble and maintain at home. Save yourself a trip to the store and simply refill your bottles on a “need-to” basis.

TESTIMONIAL
Thanks for partnering with us for all these years Paul!
“Ben, Dalton and crew did a fantastic job repairing and replacing a damaged and non-working air condition system and the necessary related heating unit. They were energetic, friendly, professional and easy to relate with. The cleanup at the completion of the job exceeded expectations. I have used J&R Herra for 47 years and they have never let me down.”
